oldie, but goodie. The first piece of jewelry I've ever made. A little over 3 years ago. I was into the whole arms and armor thing, but kept making the weave smaller and smaller, untill I got to this. each jumpring is 4 mm in diameter, and made by hand. the collar is actually fitted to my neck, so I had to make a notch in the weave and then connect it back together, so that the necklace doesn't dip in the front. made with galvanized wire

Oh. Thank you. Do you have a certain gauge of wire that you like to use, or tools? I picked up some wire I had around the house, and tried 1 european 4 in 1. It was okay.

you know - its pretty much trial and error with me :) I started out with some galvanized steel wire from hardware store as well as those think coils you can sometimes buy at 99c store and I used various pens, pencils and other round stick objects to coil it (knitting needles and some chopstics make great mandrels) and then I just experimented :) a good gauge for a ring diameter is the one that is slightly difficult, but not impossible to close and you cannot open it with your fingers/nails. and with various weaves, I would make a small sample trying out a few sizes, untill I found the one that worked - not the best way to do things, but since I've been doing it for fun.. :) I have a ton of unfinished projects laying around...

That's amazing!! I want to make one. I could buy the chain mail, but I don't think I'd be able to do that without a guide or something.
